Full Description

The problem of annular flow condensation inside circular and semicircular horizontal tubes was analyzed using the analogy between momentum and heat transfer. Condensation inside a semicircular tube represents the case of condensation inside a circular tube with a twisted-tape insert having an infinite twist ratio. The analysis was used in developing a design correlation to predict local heat transfer coefficients for condensation inside horizontal tubes with twisted-tape inserts. Comparisons were made between predictions and experimental measurements reported by different investigators. The disagreement between measurements and predictions was within +30%.
