How Standards Are Updated
When a standard is updated, it is one of three types of updates: replaced, partially replaced or amended.
Below is a summary of how your tracking list will handle each type of update.
-
Replaced - When a standard is replaced by a new standard, the old standard is considered out of
date and should not be used anymore. When you purchase a replacement standard, the old standard will
be removed from your tracking list.
-
Partially Replaced - When a standard is partially replaced by a new standard,
there is still current information in the old standard. Because of this, when you
purchase a partial replacement standard the old standard will remain on your tracking list.
-
Amended - When a standard is amended, the new information is to be used in conjunction
with the old standard. When you buy an amendment to a standard, the old standard remains on
your tracking list.
Some Important Facts to Know about the Techstreet Standards Tracking Service
-
*The Techstreet Updating Service and the Techstreet Tracking Service have been combined into
one Techstreet Standards Tracking Service. Any standards purchased that were NOT already on your
Tracking List have automatically been added. You will continue to receive automatic e-mail updates
in a timely manner. Any trackable standards that are purchased will automatically stay on your list and
will continue to be tracked. To remove standards from your list, simply click the Remove link on
your standards Tracking List.
-
The Techstreet Standards Tracking Service is not a "standing order" service. We will send you
notifications when changes are made, but we will not automatically send you the updated standard.
-
This service uses e-mail messaging to alert you when publications change. If you do not provide us
with an e-mail address, if your address changes, or if your e-mail is not responding to
transmissions, we cannot send you proper notification. If you would like to change the e-mail
address in your account, just login and change it anytime, or send e-mail to
techstreet.service@thomson.com and we will be happy to change it for you.
-
There may be lag times between when a publisher approves a standard, when they publish it, and
when they actually release it to the public. If a standards committee approves a standard in
July, it is quite possible that it might not be released to the public until December!
-
Techstreet does not receive data updates from every publisher whose information it sells. We are
limited by publisher capabilities and other factors.
