These requirements cover angle-pattern and straightway-pattern hose valves intended for use on standpipes, fire pumps, and hydrants supplying water for fire protection service.

Requirements for the installation of hose valves include the Standards of the National Fire Protection Association for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems, NFPA 13; for Standpipe and Hose Systems, NFPA 14; for Installation of Centrifugal Fire Pumps, NFPA 20; and for Installation of Private Fire Service Mains, NFPA 24.
