Smart Energy (www.smartenergysoftware.com) is a robust, state-of-the-art, web based energy analysis and hourly thermal load simulation program. It is developed by Sarla (Barrington, RI) and ISHRAE (Indian Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers). Smart Energy is the first, comprehensive, web based user interface tool to the DOE's EnergyPlus engine. It brings simplicity and ease of use to the DOE's complex and dynamic energy simulation engine, EnergyPlus.
Smart Energy has been specifically designed to meet the needs of HVAC Engineers and Architects to calculate hourly loads and building energy simulation through a simplified tabbed graphical interface, to perform Simple or complex simulations. With it, the users can perform quick analysis of building function and performance; get results on time, anywhere, anytime without need to install any software on their PCs.
2-D CAD drawings of building floor plans can be uploaded, while the custom option allows creation of zone drawings via an innovative flash interface.
The Smart Energy also incorporates several pre-defined default building types with typical construction, interior loads, operating schedules, and HVAC system configurations such that users can quickly develop an energy model of a building.
The use of saved Templates allows easy simulations of similar types of building. A number of US cities weather data is built in the software.
