About This Item

Full Description

It is generally recognised that substantial amounts of service hot water can be generated from otherwise wasted condenser heat by proper application of a desuperheater to a residential heat pump or air conditioner. The actual heat recovered is highly dependent on water temperatures through the desuperheater, storage tank size to store the hot water recovered, piping, air conditioner/heat pump (AC/HP) capacity, and climate. This paper suggests tank size and piping strategies for such systems.

KEYWORDS: water heat storage, water tanks, sizing, domestic, heat pumps, air conditioning, intercoolers, heat recovery, condensers, energy storage, pipes.
