About This Item

Full Description

The user of adjustable speed drives (ASDs) promises large energy savings but may increase power quality problems among utility customers. Presents results of a detailed power quality monitoring study of ASD use in three industries (food processing, pulp and paper manufacturing, and waste-water operations). The study provides a verifiable source of information on ASD power impacts, energy savings, and performance in actual process applications. Also summarises the results of a telephone questionnaire of ASD use in these three industries and identifies successful power quality mitigation techniques that can be employed by both the utilities and their customers. Also known as variable speed drives (VSD) or variable-frequency drives (VFD).
