About This Item

Full Description

ANSI/HI 9.6.5 was produced for the purpose of providing users of rotodynamic pumps, both centrifugal and vertical, either sealed or sealless design, with a state-of-the-art and comprehensive tool for condition monitoring of the pumps in their systems. While the new Standard specifies that it is the user's responsibility to identify the need for implementing condition monitoring practices, information relevant and helpful to making such decisions is provided, along with suggestions for implementing the monitoring process.

Importantly, the document pinpoints indicators that can be monitored to identify rotodynamic pump failure modes, and identifies the common means of measuring those indicators. Also, where appropriate, control limits are recommended for indicators for which limits are not defined in other Hydraulic Institute Standards.

ANSI/HI 9.6.5 contains recommendations for field alarm default and trip vibration measurement settings when baseline values are avaiable, and also discusses the various--and numerous--potential causes for rotodynamic pump failure; indicators that should be monitored for failure prevention are listed.

The document presents recommendations on frequency of monitoring, and factors affecting condition monitoring specific to rate of flow, pressure, vibration, shaft position, lubricant analysis, and more. Myriad other topics critical to proper condition monitoring of rotodynamic pumps are covered in detail.
