1. Scope

1.1

This Standard applies to complete, flue-connected, oil- fired warm air appliances, irrespective of the heating capacity or the type of burner used.

1.2

The requirements given herein apply to appliances intended for installation with the appliance base placed upon the floor, except as provided for in Clause 1.4; and intended to be used with pipes or ducts for the distribution of the heated air, except as provided for in Clause 1.4; and employing forced circulation of the heated air.

1.3

The requirements given herein apply to in-line furnaces, upflow furnaces and downflow furnaces as defined in CSA Standard B139, Installation Code for Oil Burning Equipment.

1.4

The requirements given herein apply also to horizontal furnaces and to unit heaters, as defined in CSA Standard B139, Installation Code for Oil Burning Equipment.

1.5

The intent of the requirements given herein apply also to duct furnaces, as defined in CSA Standard B139, Installation Code for Oil Burning Equipment.

1.6

Requirements for heating/cooling appliances primarily for outdoor installation are shown under Clause 10.
