About This Item

Full Description

The irradiation at air mass zero and the extinction coefficient are calculated using Bouguer's law for the normal insolation and the eight bands of the solar spectrum defined by the sharp cut-off filters OG1, RG2 and RG8. The annual variation of the monthly average for each is reported. Also included is the average normal incidence energy and the energy passing each of the filters at hour angles of zero to six for each month of the year. The change in the fraction of normal insolation measured by each filter is investigated and may be expressed as a linear function of air mass. The effect of altitude on band energy is examined by calculating the yearly average band energy for sequential one degree steps of solar altitude. Turbidity is also reported.
