Full Description

This PDF includes Errata #1-#5.

Part 1 - Design in Aluminum 1.1 Scope 1.1.1 Part 1 of this Standard provides design requirements for all components made from wrought aluminum that are required to carry load.

1.1.2 In Part 1 it is presupposed that the loads, load factors, and limit states have been established separately, and Part 1 therefore covers only the proportioning of structures or components to meet these requirements. The resistance factors adopted in Part 1 are based on the load factors used in buildings, as specified in Part 2, Aluminum in Buildings; for other applications, load factors shall be established such that, in conjunction with these resistance factors, the required level of reliability is obtained.

1.1.3 Part 1 of this Standard does not cover drawings, loadings, fabrication, erection, alloy properties, or suitability of the mate rials for any intended purpose, except insofar as the performance of the completed assembly is affected. Note: Part 2 of this Standard gives additional requirements for alum inum applications in buildings. /

Part 2 - Aluminum in Buildings

2.1 Scope

2.1.1 Part 2 covers the design, fabrication, and protection of load bearing aluminum components used in buildings.

2.1.2 The requirements of Part 2 shall be applicable to the alloys listed in Table 2.1 (See Appendix A for common uses of alloys.)
