Organization and Content - This standard sets out the requirements for the design and manufacture of Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) with a capacity equal to or less than 3000 L and their use for the transportation of Class 3, 4, 5, 8 or 9 or Division 6.1 dangerous goods. This standard consists of two parts and three appendices. Part 1 contains the requirements for the design and manufacture of UN Standard IBCs. Part 2 contains the requirements for the use of IBCs for the transportation of Class 3, 4, 5, 8 or 9 or Division 6.1 dangerous goods.

Application - This standard applies to both standardized and non-standardized means of containment as defined by the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations (TDG Regulations).

The testing and evaluation of a product against this standard may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous.
