Specifics of the 2006 Montreal lead sampling project are outlined, and conclusions were that: enhanced digestion did not reveal more particulate lead but required more effort; Volumes of LSL and internal premise plumbing vary even for similar houses; Maximum dissolved Pb concentration not in 1st L sample, 2nd L and 1 min flush can be higher; no obvious predictor for lead at first flush or after full flush although length, volume and contact time in SL and LSL are listed; Significant particulate lead is a rare event but almost always in first flush, minor background levels are present; 30 minutes stagnation protocol relatively easy to implement; and, Ongoing investigations on causes/sources of lead particles and remediation.
