Full Description

This paper summarizes a Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF) project on the Impact of Surface Storage on Reclaimed Water for Non-potable Use: Seasonal and Long Term. The project objectives were to develop: a better understanding of the effects of storage on reclaimed water quality; a methodology to help understand/predict water quality changes during storage; and, effective management tools for minimizing water quality problems. To meet these objectives, the Research Team, led by Black & Veatch and Irvine Ranch Water District (IRWD), implemented a six-phase project approach: Literature Review, Water Quality Criteria, Water Quality Parameters, Management Strategies, Water Quality Models, and Recommended Water Quality Management Tools. This paper focuses on describing the rationale for the project and the approach taken to conduct the project.
