About This Item

Full Description

Due to the unique topography of New Orleans, Louisiana, many sewer, water and drainage assets are below sea level. Similar to other large agencies, the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans faced maintenance challenges including work order tracking, prioritization of repairs, lack of a comprehensive cost accounting system and the deterioration of old records. In 1990, the Board initiated a project for the development of a Computer Aided Support System for Public Works Infrastructure (CASS WORKS). CASS WORKS was customized to meet the data processing and software standards of the Board and its regional geographic information system (GIS) efforts. This presentation summarizes the project approach used by the Board and RJN Group, Inc.
