This standard covers the material and application requirements for fusion-bonded epoxy coatings for the interior and exterior of steel water pipe, special sections, welded joints, connections, and fittings for steel water pipelines installed underground or underwater. Fusion-bonded epoxy coatings are heat-activated, chemically cured coating systems. Section 1 discusses scope, purpose and application. Sections 2 and 3 include references and definitions. Section 4 discusses requirements, including: equipment; materials and workmanship; material properties and laboratory test methods for coating qualification only; pipe coating application; coating special pipe connections and appurtances; and, field procedures. Section 5 discusses verification, including: inspection by the purchaser; rejection; and, laboratory tests. Section 6 includes: packaging and marking; handling, storage, and shipping; and, affidavit of compliance. The major revision to this edition of ANSI/AWWA C213-96 is the format change to AWWA standard style.
