This article describes basic, intermediate and advanced performance protocols for energy, water, thermal comfort, IAQ, lighting and acoustics as outlined in the ASHRAE book, Performance Measurement Protocols for Commercial Buildings. This is important because the basis for claims such as "green," "low energy" or "high performances" are not always supported, and the industry needs to protect the "green" or "high performance" brand.
