These requirements cover pilot-operated pressure-control valves intended to reduce the water pressure in the supply piping for standpipe systems, or sprinkler systems, or both.

The valves covered by these requirements are intended for use in: a) Standpipe systems installed in accordance with the Standard for Installation of Standpipe and Hose Systems, NFPA 14; or

b) Sprinkler systems installed in accordance with the Standard for Installation of Sprinkler Systems, NFPA 13.

The valves covered by these requirements are intended to be inspected, tested, and maintained in accordance with the Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems, NFPA 25.
