Full Description

This Approved Method describes the procedures to be followed and the precautions to be observed in obtaining uniform and reproducible life test measurements of compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) under standard conditions in alternating current circuits. There are two categories of compact fluorescent lamps: integrated and non-integrated. Integrated CFLs comprise the discharge tube, ballast, lamp base and appropriate housings to combine these components. Typically integrated lamps can be directly connected to the normal power mains supply using standard lamp holders. Non-integrated CFLs comprise the discharge tube, lamp base and electrical connectors to interface to a lamp holder which connects the external ballast to the lamp. This document does not include Linear, Circline or U-bent fluorescent lamps: For information concerning life testing these lamp types (see reference 2).
