Standard 183 was created in a collaborative effort between ASHRAE and ACCA, the Air Conditioning Contractors of America, to establish minimum requirements for methods and procedures used to perform peak cooling and heating load calculations for buildings except low-rise residential buildings.

This 2011 reaffirmation of the 2007 standard updates references and appendices.
