Techstreet Standards Publishers Innovation Forum Explores the Importance of Thinking Outside the Box

Forum addresses how innovation can drive success for standards organizations

ALEXANDRIA, VA, December 2, 2013 Leaders from the standards publishing industry gathered on November 14 in Alexandria, Virginia, for the bi-annual Standards Publishers Innovation Forum (SPIF) presented by Techstreet, part of the Intellectual Property (IP) & Science business of Thomson Reuters and the world's leading provider of industry codes and standards. The fall forum, The Anatomy of Innovation: Global Perspectives for Standards Developing Organizations, focused on how innovation drives success.

The one-day event attended by standards professionals and industry experts focused on innovation and how it helps drive growth and manage change. Participants learned how organizations use innovation to develop new products and services to better serve customer needs. Speakers from Innodata and Thomson Reuters engaged with attendees on topics including the link between standards, innovation and patents; building persona-based web applications; and using innovation for information discovery.

"€œI really enjoy attending the Techstreet SPIF events. Techstreet does a great job at putting together an informative agenda where attendees have a chance to learn something new and share their thoughts and related experiences," said Patti Ensor, manager of Commercial Alliances at CSA Group. “In this ever-changing world of standards it is important to stay connected and share best practices with other standards- developing organizations who are dealing with similar issues. The forum gives us an opportunity to do that."

Launched in 2012, the Standards Publishers Innovation Forum is held twice annually to address key issues in the standards industry. The forum offers a unique opportunity to learn from industry leaders, collaborate with peers, and help shape the future of standards publishing.

"€œInnovation is key for an organization to grow and evolve,"€ said Todd Fegan, vice president of Techstreet Operations. "€œFor this fall forum, we focused on how companies can innovate to facilitate the accessibility of product and services for engineers and other users. The conference became a hub for conversations around mobile applications and innovation in developing new products. Techstreet is pleased to be able to spark and lead such dialogue within the industry."
