Techstreet Announces New Web Tools for Engineers

Ann Arbor, MI USA - November 21, 2005 Today, Techstreet announced an array of new Web enhancements designed to increase efficiency and information delivery on it's e-commerce Website, www.techstreet.com. Upgrades were also announced for subscriptions.techstreet.com, the Web-based subscription service. Techstreet is the Online Standards Superstore-a one-stop source for engineering codes and standards, serving over 90,000 technical professionals worldwide. Techstreet is part of Thomson Scientific, a business of The Thomson Corporation (NYSE: TOC; TSX: TOC).

    Enhancements on www.techstreet.com include:
  • faster, more powerful search engine that delivers more relevant search results
  • newly designed product detail page that reduces information clutter
  • redesigned browse publisher feature that allows users to more easily navigate multiple subject categories in one page view with links to specific document sets
  • 'newest items' display on individual publisher pages that shows new items at-a-glance

  • New features on the subscription site, subscriptions.techstreet.com, are designed for greater user flexibility and document control. The new custom naming feature allows for multiple subscriptions within the same company (great for setting up subscriptions by department); and a new branding feature for companies who want to upload and display their company logo. Also, the new Transactional Purchasing System (TPS) can be turned on or off, letting users purchase individual standards directly from the Techstreet online store with a link from the subscription interface.

"We listen to the market and pay close attention to what our customers are saying about information acquisition, delivery, and document control," said Gary A. Smith, vice president and general manager at Techstreet. "This collection of new features represents a lot of input from the people who use our systems everyday. One of our goals as a company moving forward is to continue developing and building the types of online applications that deliver innovative and flexible information solutions to SMEs worldwide," concluded Smith.
