Thomson Signs Distribution Agreement with Universal Technical Systems

Ann Arbor, MI - Rockford, IL - October 13, 2004- Today, Thomson announced that it has signed an agreement with Universal Technical Systems, Inc. (UTS), www.uts.com, to sell it's mathematical problem-solving software products through Techstreet, www.techstreet.com, the online superstore for engineers, corporate librarians and technical professionals worldwide. UTS is a leading developer of high-productivity, problem-solving software products and custom developed solutions.

The initial launch will feature three UTS products under the umbrella title "Technology Tools for Engineers." Now available on the Techstreet website (www.techstreet.com/uts.html), the products include TK Solver TM - the best-selling mathematical equation solver, Interactive Roark's FormulasTM - the interactive version of the popular reference book on stress analysis, and MathLook for ExcelTM - a patented Excel add-in that displays formulas in standard math notation. Techstreet is launching the new product line with an exclusive introductory offer through October 31, 2004. Customers that purchase Interactive Roark's Formulas with TK Solver will automatically receive a free copy of MathLook for Excel, a $99 value.

"In addition to offering our engineering customers these valuable time-saving tools, this agreement allows us to explore the development of software line extensions with the Standards Developing Organizations (SDOs) that we represent," said Gregg Hammerman, Techstreet founder and current Director of Operations and Technology. "UTS can do for other organizations what they did for Roark's: develop interactive software products that save engineers thousands of hours in research, development, design, and re-work time. We see the potential for a lot of new software products, some in the form of applets, which are actually just line extensions to existing formulas currently only available in print or pdf format."

S. M. Marathe, UTS President, confirms that the potential for new software development is enormous. "There are many formulas used repeatedly by thousands of engineers throughout hundreds of different disciplines. UTS has the proven capability to develop corresponding, interactive software that performs mathematical equations with speed, accuracy, and intelligence." The company is looking forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with the Techstreet division of Thomson.
