Techstreet Offers Aid and Information for Disaster Recovery
Generous Support from ASTM, API, ASCE and AWWA Fuels Donation to Red Cross

Ann Arbor, MI USA - September 12, 2005 Today, Techstreet, a business unit of the Thomson Corporation, announced that it will donate 1% of sales from all ASTM, API, ASCE and AWWA standards directly to Hurricane Katrina Red Cross relief efforts. Standards from these publishers are critical in disaster preparedness and recovery, search and rescue, public health, and design and construction.

Techstreet, a licensed reseller of engineering codes and standards, operates an e-commerce website representing over 350 standards developing organizations worldwide. Organizations participating in the disaster recovery program will donate a portion of their sales through the Techstreet website. They include ASTM International, American Petroleum Institute (API), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and American Water Works Association (AWWA). The program is in effect September 5 through November 30, 2005.

"It is important to note that engineering standards will provide mission-critical information to the thousands of recovery specialists and engineers who are working to rebuild New Orleans and other areas affected by the hurricane," said Gary Smith, Vice President and General Manager of Techstreet. "For quick and easy access, we have created links to specialized collections, including building reconstruction, demolition, disaster preparedness and recovery, flood prevention, water/wastewater treatment, pumps and hydraulics, and more. These quick links will help engineers find the information they need faster and easier. We especially want to thank our business partners at ASTM, API, ASCE and AWWA for their generous support to the relief effort."
