FCI Partners with Techstreet to Launch New Web Store

Ann Arbor, MI USA; Cleveland, OH - March 16, 2006 Today, Thomson Scientific and the Fluid Controls Institute (FCI), announce the launch of the new FCI online standards store at http://www.fluidcontrolsinstitute.org. Customers visiting the FCI standards store can search, order, and download copies of FCI standards and publications, or choose to order printed copies for delivery. This is the first time that FCI has made its technical standards available for purchase on the Internet. The agreement calls for Techstreet, a business unit of Thomson Scientific, to design, build, promote and manage the new online store and provide digital document delivery and customer service for FCI members and customers worldwide.

The Fluid Controls Institute (FCI) is a nonprofit association of manufacturers of fluid control and conditioning equipment. The Institute currently serves 40 member companies with standards development, education and training to promote better products of higher quality and greater usefulness. It is organized into eight product-specific sections designed to address relevant issues and technologies for Regulators, Secondary Pressure Drainers, Control Valves, Pipeline Strainers, Solenoid Valves, Instruments, Steam Traps, and Safety and Relief Valves. The list of publications available from the new online store include standards, recommended procedures, pressure ratings, terms and definitions, test methods and conditions, classifications, and operating principles.

Craig Addington, Director of the Fluid Controls Institute, explains that "the new online store will make FCI standards and technical documents more accessible than ever before. With the new e-commerce business model, we can serve members and customers with easy online ordering, automatic member discounts and document delivery 24 hours a day. This unique partnership will enable us to focus more on our core competencies while Techstreet manages sales and delivery."

Andrew Bank, Director of Business Development at Techstreet notes that "Our proven technology satisfies the needs of engineers and their support staff by making it easy to obtain and manage the technical information they need to do their jobs. By applying our web-based tools and proven e-commerce methods to FCI's operation, we can provide a much-needed service to FCI members and customers and increase FCI's net income from publication sales."
