T he California Bureau of Home Furnishings and Thermal Insulation (BHFTI) is an agency within the Department of Consumer Affairs and is responsible for enforcement of regulations relating to protection of California Consumers from flammable, unsanitary, or fraudulently labeled upholstered furniture and bedding products. The Bureau is a recognized leader in the development of furniture and bedding flammability standards, which are referenced in other government jurisdictions, and by private standards-setting agencies throughout the nation and the world.
