About PDF
A PDF file can describe documents containing any combination of text, graphics, and images. Documents can be one page or thousands of pages, very simple or extremely complex making use of elaborate fonts, graphics, color, and images. PDF is a unique format that allows the identical presentation of a file without regard to the software and hardware used to view it. These files are a perfect vehicle for sharing information among the diverse computing environments that make up the Internet.

The PDF conversion process uses licensed Adobe conversion software, Acrobat Reader. This software does not use risky processes such as Optical Character Recognition (OCR) scanning that often results in loss or alteration of information and documents of poor quality.
Graphics are embedded in the document (they appear in the document exactly as they do in the printed edition).
File sizes can be kept very small (on a standard-speed modem, one page transfers in about two seconds).
PDF files are fully text-searchable using Adobe Acrobat Reader software.
Users cannot alter the text of a PDF document.
